Choose a theme before a checklist.
Are you travelling for mountain scenery, architecture, food or a slower break? Choose one main interest and use it to narrow your first few destinations. You do not need to see the whole country in one visit.
Count the journeys between the places.
Write down every transfer, including the trip from the airport and the return journey. Ask transport providers about realistic timings for your dates. Keep some flexibility rather than putting every experience on a tightly timed schedule.
Stay long enough to notice the place.
A second walk, an unhurried meal or a conversation with a host may tell you more than another rushed stop. Pick a few priorities and leave the rest as possibilities.
